Rosneft, one of Russia’s largest integrated energy companies and largest oil company, is aiming to strengthen its position on the global hydrocarbon market as an efficient and more eco-friendly producer and supplier of energy resources. It aims to do so by reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impact over time including a long term commitment to achieving Net-Zero status by 2050.
In a December 21 press release, the company specified a number of strategic targets it is aiming to achieve in the shorter term, and specifically by the year 2030. These targets include a 25% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, plus the implementation of additional projects related to the development of natural forest sinks, and carbon capture and storage.
