Mondi, a multinational packaging and paper company with headquarters in the UK, is aiming to transition its business for Net Zero compliance by the year 2050 based on new Net Zero standards set by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Mondi’s Net-Zero journey has always aligned with SBTi but the new plan which was submitted at the end of 2021, is designed to align with SBTi’s new Net-Zero Standard. This new standard commits companies to reducing GHG emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 in line with a keeping global temperatures below 1.5°C warmer than pre-industrial levels. Mondi has also signed up to the UN Business Ambition for capping global temperatures at 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels. The UN Business Ambition is the world’s largest and fastest-growing group of companies committed to taking urgent climate action aligned with 1.5°C.
