Ryanair, an Irish ultra low-cost carrier headquartered in Dublin, published its decarbonization strategy entitled “Pathway to Net Zero” in which the company detailed its plan to reach Net Zero by the year 2050. Expanding on their intentions to reduce carbon emissions and the impact of its operations on the environment, the new Ryanair strategy outlines four core strategic pillars underpinning the airline’s ambitious goal of net carbon zero by 2050:
- 34% decarbonization through the increased use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF)
- 32% decarbonization through technological & operational improvements
- 24% decarbonization through offsetting & other economic measures
- 10% decarbonization through the introduction of better Air Traffic Management
